The UK’s Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) has banned a misleading iPhone advert that claimed iPhone users could access ‘all parts of the internet’.
In truth, iPhone users can only access sites that don’t incorporate Flash or Java.
This means the iPhone is unable to access the majority of internet videos, games, and graphics.
Because Flash and Java are integral to accessing ‘all the parts’ of the internet, the ASA ruled that Apple’s iPhone advert is misleading and must be removed from circulation.
An Apple spokesperson responded by arguing that the advert implied that the iPhone made all webpages available, not that it displayed all aspects of every site.
